Dear Parents,
We are very happy that the warmer weather may finally be upon us as we watch our surroundings for the “Signs of Spring”.
Reading
This month, we will be learning about our new letter friends, Mr. W and his Wonderful Wink, Mr. X who is All Mixed Up and Mr. Q who is Quiet. We will hear about their adventures and help them figure out their letter sounds. As we learn new letters, we continue to review the other letter sounds through different matching games. We also play games matching uppercase letters to lowercase letters.
As we continue to learn all our letters and sounds, practice writing both uppercase and lowercase letters would be beneficial.
Social Studies
Our themes for the month of April will be Spring, Passover, Easter, and Earth Day. We use recycled products in our crafts so please collect toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls and send them to school.
Art and Cooking
Both the art and cooking activities will continue to enhance our Social Studies theme. We will be creating flowers, bees, ladybugs, the Matzah Man, and Easter eggs.
We will continue to try different recipes such as our Whipped Fruit Salad and tasting matzah for Passover.
Character Counts
Our theme of the month is Trustworthiness. We will be reading books and talking about ways people trust each other.
Math and Science
In Math, the children have been working with flat and three dimensional shapes. We will be moving onto measurement in our next unit.
In Science, we will be learning about “Sound”. Our first experiment will be, “Can sound make salt move?”
End of Year Show & Preschool Graduation
The children have been working hard learning our songs and dances. We can’t wait to show you on Monday, June 9th @ 1:00 on the Laurel Hill stage.
